DIY Breakfast at Tiffany's Eye Mask

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

This is my very first DIY! I am so excited to share it with you guys. For Halloween I am being Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I found this tutorial via Pinterest and it was perfect! Breakfast at Tiffany's  is one of my favorite movies and I can't wait to show you guys the finished costume.

Materials:
  • Teal Felt
  • Braided Gold Ribbon
  • Gold Elastic
  • Adhesive
1) I started out by cutting out a template. I found the template I used here.
2) Trace the outline with a marker twice (you will be cutting two out).
3) Cut two of the shapes out
4) Cut two piece of elastic and glue onto the back. I estimated mine somewhere between 15 and 17 inches. I also glued it to the side that had the sharpie marks, to make sure they would be hidden.
5) Glue the other side of the mask on top of the one you just attached the elastic to.
6) Little by little glue the gold braid along the edge. I did this part really slowly to make sure I didn't have any glue or felt from the edge showing.
7) And TA-DA you are all finished! I didn't add the eye pieces because I never liked the way those looked, but you can always add them using similar steps!

Recent Purchases

Monday, October 12, 2015

Hey guys, long time no see!
I have been studying so much that I haven't had time for much else, but I am back.... and with a peak into my recent purchases!
This is the cutest bag ever! (And it's huge) I bought it during the Lilly Pulitzer sale a little while ago. I found my crazy kittens in it when I left it out one day and my sister and I got this silly picture with them.

I just ordered this ADORABLE skirt today. J. Crew Factory is having an awesome sale and free shipping. I can't wait for it to arrive!

These candles are awesome, they smell so strong, but not overwhelming.

I hope you all enjoyed!

Big/Little Crafting

Friday, September 25, 2015

As I have mentioned previously, I am in a sorority. My little has just gotten her own little, so I am now a grand-big! I am absolutely so excited, so here are some of her gifts:

We started making a couple canvases (These are the unfinshed versions)

This is literally the cutest thing my little came up with! It is a reversible frame! She painted one side of it pink and the other side navy and we used some of our Lilly agenda pages to modge podge on.

This is a tradition I started when I got my little. Usually littles get a decorated pin box to keep their badge in, so I made us matching ones and she loved the idea so much that she made her little one that matches too!

This is a quote from the new Cinderella movie. My little also got her Cinderella and Frozen (we are big Disney fans)

And here is Olaf! He sticks with the Disney gifts and we got him a matching family shirt! (Ours is tie-dye with our letters)

And those were a couple of the finished canvases.

These were some of the gifts from the reveal. Among the gifts seen, she also got her a couple Lilly things and gave her gift baskets throughout the week.

Recruitment & Bid Day 2015

Saturday, September 19, 2015

These are some of my photos from Recruitment Week! It is absolutely one of my favorite parts of the new semester. I was very proud to be in charge of our scrapbook (and if I do say so it was adorable!). My sorority did an amazing job and I couldn't be more proud.

The first photo is from one of our nights, it was beach themed. The girl next to me is my adorable little. I, along with a couple other sisters painted the backdrop and it was so much fun!

The rest of the photos are from Bid Day (our Bid Day chair did an AWESOME job). The first Bid Day photo is some of the girls from my Bid Day class, the second is a Big/Little selfie(can you see all the glitter on my shoulder?), and the third is me along with a couple new members.

I hope you all enjoyed!

Hey guys, so this post is about how to dress up a sorority tee, making it go from casual to cute really easily. I love wearing my sorority tees, but I still want to look nice and put together while I do it. Typically I will wear a cute bracelet and/or watch, one statement ring, and then some sort of simple studs.
I am in love with all of these tees and accessories!
~I am currently looking for a cute statement watch and both of these are adorable.
~I also love these Kate Spade studs in every color. I think my favorite are the tortoise colored ones.
~The Pandora bracelets have a Disney line! They are literally precious!
I hope you all enjoyed, until next time!

These are my favorite earrings right now. I am usually in the habit of wearing pearl studs or a gold pair of Tory Burch studs I have and I am trying to branch out a little.
1)  The are precious! I think they would be perfect in the spring or summer with a Lilly sundress.
2) Haha yes these are also a pair of Tory Studs but I love how geometrically interesting they are.
3) I am in love with this color! It is perfect for fall!
4) Would these not be perfect for holiday parties? They are so tasteful and exciting at the same time.
I hope you all enjoyed!

What do I do When I'm Stressed?

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

This is something that everybody can relate to. As a college student I frequently find myself stressing about class, so what do I do for a break, or to relieve stress?? To start with I like to take a step back and read a favorite book or watch one of my favorite movies. Right now I am re-reading the Harry Potter series. (My copies are a little dinged up from reading them so much). And I love the whole Treat-yo-Self thing(hence the Macaroons)so if I have a really bad day or have gotten an A on an exam I usually treat myself to something small. The cups are Lilly Pulitzer that I bought almost a year ago and the straw is part of a gift from a friend of mine.

Back To School Shopping Guide

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

It is that time of year again! Time to start thinking of your back to school supply list. I love getting visually appealing, matching supplies because it compels me to stay more organized. Staying more organized makes studying so much easier!

The first thing I start looking for is a planner. These are my favorites this year. I am usually really busy during the semester, so I need tons of places to write to keep organized. I try to start every day with a to-do list based on importance. I also try to review daily what is coming up for the next two weeks so that I am never unprepared.

An essential part is what bag you will use because you want to be comfortable with all the textbooks you will be carrying. Lugging around an uncomfortable bag all day is not fun. I try to look for something durable because I tend to be hard on my bags.

Another essential thing for back to school are your tools!
I prefer to do most of my math by hand, but I try to keep either a basic calculator or a scientific calculator on hand.
For my notebooks I prefer to get really thick sturdy ones because I take tons of notes, sometime rewriting them. I really like to try to color coordinate them with my other supplies.
I try to keep fun things like stickers or decorative pens on hand for my note taking so that it's not as dull. I also try to keep a more fun notebook on hand to take notes during my sorority meetings so that I don't forget anything.
The way I keep my notes organized is by using colored pens depending upon the type of notes they are. I like to use blue for my class notes, green for reading notes, and red for extra side notes or things the professor specifically says will be on the test. I also love to highlight and always keep a pink one on hand!

For school I do TONS of walking from class to class, so it is so important that I have comfortable shoes. It isn't fun when you already have a blister and you are only halfway through your day (I've been there!). The other thing you need, especially when it's hot, is a large water bottle to keep your drinks cold. I always forget to drink water, so keeping a cute bottle with me works as a reminder!

I hope this guide has helped to inspire you to be excited for back to school!

Hello Blog World!

Hey guys! I am, so excited to be making my very first blog post. I have been toying with the idea of making a blog for a while now, so today I decided to take the plunge.

I am currently a college student, I love to draw, and I love my family. Some of my favorite things are the color pink, macaroons, and flowers.

A Little Bit About Me:

~I adore my family. They are so supportive of everything that I do! I can literally talk to them about anything.

(my sister and I)

~I love animals and seem to have the goofiest ones on the planet. I have a yellow lab and three cats
(one of which, named Smokey, is specifically mine)

 (this is Smokey)

~ I take studying very seriously. (Enough said)
~My very favorite hobby is drawing/painting. I hope to be posting some of my work on here! And my other hobby is reading books. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting at the end of a long day with a good book.
~ I am in a sorority which I love! My sisters give me such a tight-knit group of friends during the semester and even help me study!
~I have a HUGE sweet tooth. I love finding local macaroon/chocolate stores.

I am so excited to have entered the blog world and I hope you all enjoy your reading!

Love, Lauren
